Hello and welcome to the website of the Rotaract Club of Cessnock!
Who are we? We are a group of 18-30 year-olds who decided to make some new friends, have some fun and be doing something good for the community while we we’re at it. We are sponsored by Cessnock Rotary Club and are a non-profit, non-religious apolitical volunteer group who meet every fortnight to organise and participate in a wide range of social and community service activities.
Since our formation in early 2011, Rotaract members have served sausage sangas at a NSW-wide athletics meet; dragon-boat raced in Lake Macquarie; cooked for hundreds of participants of the 2011 Cancer Council Relay for Life (and participated ourselves); assisted the Salvation Army in their annual Red Shield Appeal; surveyed teens at Cessnock City Council’s Youthfest, and served thousands of meals at the Lovedale Long Lunch.
As seen above, our activities are focused on the physical and social needs of Cessnock and surrounding areas of the Hunter Valley. However, as part of the wider national and international Rotaract community (which encompasses over 8000 clubs from every corner of the globe), we are also given the opportunity to work with other Rotaract clubs, be involved in or contribute to international causes (such as End Polio Now) and participate in Rotary International’s wide and highly-regarded range of leadership and exchange programs.
If you’re looking for an activity where you can meet new friends, serve your community in a fun, hands-on way and acquire some valuable personal, professional and leadership skills at the same time, Rotaract could be for you. Why don’t you come along to one of our meetings to find out? We meet every second Monday and visitors are always welcome. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, July 18 at Potters Brewery in Nulkaba. Feel free to have a look at the official Rotaract website or send us an email If you’d like some more information.
